CONSULTING

FMF provides clear, scientifically sound (non-technical) explanations of weather events and any impacts they may have had.

FORECASTING

Issues forecasts using in-situ and remotely sensed observational data, including ASOS weather stations, ships, buoys, CMAN stations, weather balloons, RADARs, satellites (visible, infrared, water vapor), scatterometers, etc.  Combining these data with multiple models’ output data (atmospheric and marine), high quality forecasts are developed and explained upon issue.

HISTORICAL WEATHER EVENT ANALYSIS

Analysis of past weather events using publicly available, archived meteorological data.  These data include ASOS stations, ships, buoys, CMAN stations, weather balloons, RADARS, satellites, scatterometers, etc.  Comparison to historical reanalysis data is also available upon request.  Custom plots and animations of pertinent observations are produced for visual representation of the specified event.

INSTRUMENT INSTALLATION AND SITE EVALUATION

Site visits for determination of optimal locations for meteorological instrumentation installations.  Install meteorological instrumentation and establish data acquisition system to record and deliver data.  Possible parameters sensors collect data for include air temperature and humidity, wind speed and direction, atmospheric pressure, precipitation (volume and type), and solar radiation.  Additional parameters upon request.

DATA ANALYSIS

FMF provides analysis of many types of data for validation and verification leading to analysis.  These data include ASOS, ship, buoy, CMAN, weather balloon, RADAR, satellite, scatteromoeter, etc.  Model data are also available for analysis (atmospheric or marine).  Summaries provided upon request, as are custom plots depicting pertinent observations.

EXPERT WITNESS TESTIMONY

FMF also provides expert witness testimony in trial cases including weather events.  This testimony is based on several of the services described above.  Testimony involves analysis, findings, and conclusions regarding weather events surrounding the trial.  FMF is thoroughly prepared for each case, and strives to convey scientific information clearly and specifically in a non-technical manner for general comprehension.
